Painted Bison Leather Chair
Painted Bison Leather Chair is a striking fusion of heirloom-quality craftsmanship and fine art. Upholstered in full-grain saddle leather in a warm palomino tan tone, this handcrafted chair embodies timeless Western style with modern comfort. The leather is richly hand-burnished to highlight its natural character, while the button wingback design, generously padded arms, and eight-way hand-tied spring system ensure lasting support and luxurious seating.
Designer details abound, including contrasting leather accents along the arm panels and a belt leather gimp around the base, finished with antique nailhead trim. The back features a sueded leather gimp panel, also trimmed in decorative nailheads, adding depth and dimension from every angle. Subtle tufting on the back cushions further elevates the Western aesthetic.

Leather Description: This is a full grain aniline leather tanned in a historic leather producing region of Italy using English hides. The century old tannery prepares this leather article by applying a hot wax, then turning the hides in old wooden tanning drums overnight to soften the natural fibers and impart it with a remarkable suppleness. The leather is then upholstered in its "crust form" on the furniture in North Carolina, After the furniture is made our leather artisans apply a multi step hand rubbed Patina using the same waxes and pigments used in Italy. Performing this process on the actual finished piece allows our artisans to develop a unique Patina, composition, and overall essence that creates a piece of furniture that has uniqueness, character and style that matches the individual who's selecting it. This leather imparts the feeling of a softer, well broken in leather one might find on a decades old chair discovered in a French country estate or the Parisian flea market. The leather is brand new from our Artisans hands... without the aging issues that sometimes come from the hands of time. Truly a unique, hand-made article in an era when only companies committed to the highest standards lavish this sort of attention and time to unique American made furniture.
True 100% top/full grain cowhide leather is characterized by variations in shade, texture, color and grain. Healed marks and scars are normal and enhance the natural beauty of the hides. These variations are normal and unique features of true authentic 100% top/full grain cowhide leather.
Artist Bio
Whispers of the Wild: Wayne Parmenter’s Artistic Odyssey Nurtured by the winds of Lake Erie, Wayne Parmenter’s journey began in Pennsylvania, where a childhood spent hiking, hunting, and crafting brushes from sheepdog hair sparked a lifelong connection to nature. Awarded a full scholarship to the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, he became a nationally recognized illustrator, working with Woolrich, FedEx, and even the White House. His excellence earned him induction into the Society of Illustrators
Now based in Hickory, North Carolina, Wayne paints on leather chairs, transforming them into canvases alive with animals, mountains, and earthy tones. His emotionally driven style, shaped by warm colors and bold forms, reflects his love of travel, the outdoors, and the untamed spirit symbolized by the Buffalo tooth he wears.
At 60, Wayne remains vigorous in body and artistry, recently collaborating with Remington Tanner Furniture and Adobe Interiors to expand his work into majestic depictions of elk, buffalo, and horses. Supported by his wife Anna and their three children—Carson, Katie, and Mara—Wayne continues to explore themes inspired by the wilderness, from bears to the Blue Ridge Mountains. His goal goes beyond art: Wayne strives to forge emotional connections, offering each piece as a journey into the wild.
Frame Construction: Using traditional hand craftsmanship with modern manufacturing methods to produce frames that are among the finest used in the upholstery business. Each frame is precisely cut and hand assembled using kilned dried lumber. Double dowels are utilized in all structural parts to form sturdy, long lasting joints. To complete construction and add stability to the frame, large precisely cut corner blocks are positioned at each corner where the greatest stress occurs using both glues and screws.
